Terms of Service
Last updated: November 6, 2026
These Terms govern your use of Crime.Report, including its pages, embeddable widgets and API (together, the “Site”). The Site is operated by US Support LLC, a Nevada news syndicate (“we”, “us”), which also operates Arre.st and Suspects.app. By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Site.
1. What Crime.Report is
Crime.Report publishes counts of jail bookings, grouped by state, date and charge type, compiled from booking records that jails and law-enforcement agencies make public. It also publishes Captured: people listed as wanted on Suspects.app who may later have been booked into a jail.
- A booking is not a conviction. Everyone booked into jail is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
- Counts are not crime rates. They depend on policing, on which jails publish records, and on which of those we collect. How the numbers work explains the method and its limits.
2. Captured matches may be wrong
Captured matches are made automatically by comparing names, dates of birth and other details between public wanted lists and public booking records. Some are reviewed by a moderator; many are not. A match:
- does not mean the person booked is the person who was wanted. Two people can share a name and date of birth;
- does not mean the booking was for that warrant, or that the warrant has been served or withdrawn;
- is not a statement that anyone committed a crime.
Check the official records with the agency concerned before you rely on any match. Never try to locate, confront or detain anyone based on the Site.
3. Not a consumer reporting agency
We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and nothing on the Site is a consumer report. You must not use the Site to decide anyone’s eligibility for employment, housing, credit, insurance, or any other purpose covered by the FCRA or similar state laws.
4. Using our numbers: widgets and API
We want the aggregate numbers to be used. You may display our widgets and use data from our API, free of charge and without a key, for news, research, education and community information, on these conditions:
- Keep the “Data: Crime.Report” credit, with a link to crime.report, wherever the numbers appear.
- Don’t present booking counts as crime rates, convictions or a measure of how safe a place is, and don’t alter the numbers.
- Cache API responses for at least 15 minutes, and don’t send more traffic than your use reasonably needs. We may limit or block traffic that degrades the Site.
- Don’t imply that we endorse you, your site or your views.
This permission covers counts and charts only. It does not cover names, photos or other details of individual people (on Captured pages, or linked from them). Those may not be copied, scraped, republished or compiled into a database. The terms of Arre.st and Suspects.app apply to their records.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Site to:
- harass, stalk, threaten, shame, extort or intimidate anyone, including people named on Captured pages;
- scrape, mine or bulk-download pages showing individual people, or try to reach data not offered through the pages, widgets and API;
- interfere with the Site: overloading it, probing it for vulnerabilities, or getting around rate limits or blocks;
- break any law or anyone else’s rights.
We may block any visitor, site or service from the Site, at our discretion and without notice.
6. Public records and the press
The Site reports on information from government records that are open to public inspection, as part of news reporting on the criminal justice system. The publication of truthful information lawfully obtained from public records is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Booking records and wanted listings are shown as published by the agencies concerned.
Where content comes from third parties or government sources, we are an interactive computer service under 47 U.S.C. § 230 and are not the publisher or speaker of that information.
7. Corrections and removal
We never charge for removing or correcting anything. Crime.Report doesn’t publish individual records of its own: each person on a Captured page comes from a booking record on Arre.st and a wanted record on Suspects.app.
- To correct or dispute a booking record, use the report link on its Arre.st page.
- To correct a wanted record, or to report that someone is no longer wanted, use the Suspects.app takedown form.
- To report a wrong Captured match, use either. Once a moderator rejects a match, it disappears from Crime.Report within 15 minutes.
8. No warranties
THE SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, TIMELINESS, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. Public records can be incomplete, late or wrong, and so can our processing of them. You are responsible for checking information before relying on it.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SITE OR ANY INFORMATION ON IT.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless US Support LLC and its officers, employees and agents from any claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Site, your use of our widgets or data on your own site, or your breach of these Terms.
11. Age
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Site.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada and applicable federal law. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Site will be resolved by binding arbitration in Nevada before a single arbitrator. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction. You waive any right to a jury trial and to take part in a class action. Either party may seek injunctive relief from a court to protect its intellectual property while arbitration is pending.
13. Copyright
The Site’s design, text, charts and compilations are ours, except as licensed in section 4. If you believe something on the Site infringes your copyright, send a notice that meets 17 U.S.C. § 512(c) through our support form.
14. Changes
We may change these Terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the new Terms.
15. Everything else
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Site. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
